Meet our Midwife

Kristen Parks, APRN-CNM

About Kristen

Kristen has been serving women in her community since 2014 when she received her bachelor's degree as a Registered Nurse from the University of South Alabama. Desiring to be a well-rounded nurse, she worked as a float nurse on units that specialized in surgery, orthopedics, emergency medicine, organ transplants, oncology, gynecology and women's health. Her heart has always been centered on serving women and babies so in 2020 she earned her Masters in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University and became a Certified Nurse Midwife.

She worked in private practice at Craig Ranch OBGYN for two years, seeing women in clinic for well-women exams, gynecological concerns, and prenatal care and helping women birth their babies in a hospital setting. She absolutely loved serving the women she saw each day and was honored to build relationships with so many women and families. Seeking to gain more experience in high-risk obstetrics, Kristen turned to working at Parkland Hospital for two years. There, she enjoyed taking care of under-served populations and providing compassionate care that every person deserves. Although grateful for the experience, she missed the personal relationships that private practice offered and so Kristen started the first birth center in Prosper, TX--Texas Family Birth & Wellness.

Kristen believes each person has an innate, immeasurable value and desires for each client and family to be treated that way. She has seen that the medical model of care does not work for every family and wants to offer personalized, low-intervention, high-compassion care to each of her clients. Kristen believes that Midwifery allows women to feel empowered not only in pregnancy and birth, but throughout their entire lives as well. When she's not catching babies and holding mothers, Kristen enjoys spending time with her family and reading mystery books full of suspense. She is a leader in her Bible study, serves with her local church, and has a heart to advocate for children in the foster care system.

Kristen believes healthcare works best when it's a partnership and is so excited about partnering with you and your family on your pregnancy journey. She is so thankful you have stopped by to read about her birth center and looks forward to meeting you soon!
